surrounding powerful peaks such as that of Austria’s tallest
mountain, the 3,798 metre high Grossglockner on the border
with Carinthia.
Central Europe’s largest national park – Hohe Tauern
National Park - reveals astounding beauty to its
nature-loving visitors. With the varied plant and animal
life that inhabits an area of approximately 1,800 square
kilometres, this national park in East Tyrol, which abounds
with natural beauty, has many exciting surprises in store

include the Innergschlöss glacier trail and the famous
Krimmler Waterfalls.
Those who have had enough of impressive hikes or climbs or
are just not interested in them can relax on a leisurely
cycle ride into the neighbouring Upper Pusteria Valley or

During the colder part of the year, this winter sports
resort will delight you with its eternal ice-covered
glaciers, slopes that are suited to both beginners and
world-cup standard skiers and the most modern of lift
facilities – perfect conditions for alpine skiers,
snowboarders and tobogganists. Cross-country skiers will
also find exactly what they’re looking for here. In winter,
snowy East Tyrol is criss-crossed by several hundred
kilometres of well-prepared tracks.
